*UPDATED* Review: Skinfood Agave Cactus Skincare Range

Today, I am going to review on my current favorite skincare line from Skinfood, the Agave Cactus Range.

From left to right: Agave Cactus Cream (Light) SGD59.90, Agave Cactus Serum SGD59.90, Agave Cactus Toner SGD54.90

The Skinfood Agave Cactus line has anti-wrinkle and brightening effects on the skin and is able to keep the skin hydrated and healthy during summer (yes Singapore is summer all year round =D).

Toner

This toner has a refreshing finish. I am not sure, but I don't think it's alcohol base. I never read the ingredients section when it comes to skincare, but I doubt I will be able to understand the ingredients section for any Skinfood products LOL

*UPDATE* After using this toner for quite a while now, I think it DOES contain alcohol... cause it does kind of sting my eyes a little when I use it (just a little)... not a big problem to me, but I don't think I will repurchase it.

Serum

Hygienic pump bottle

3 pumps should be sufficient for the whole face, massaged in.

This serum has a texture like emulsion. After it's absorbed, it's non-sticky and leaves my skin moisturised.

Cream

Gel-like texture

This is my favourite of the lot. The cream has a very light gel-like texture. It's water based and absorbs into my skin really fast. About 5 minutes after application, the cream is totally absorbed into my skin, leaving my face soft and smooth. However, I notice that it is not moisturising enough for me when used alone, because I woke up with my skin feeling tight, especially when I slept with the air-con on. Luckily, when I use this with the serum, my skin feels just fine in the morning, smooth and hydrated =) This range also has a more hydrating cream called the Agave Cactus Cream (Hydrating). I have tried the sample before and I find it a bit oiler than the light cream. It has a more creamy texture and takes a longer time to absorb into my skin. So in the end, I chose the lighter version!

Super cute packaging detail on all the bottle caps

All the 3 products has a mild fresh scent. I am not sure how to describe it, but it makes me think of cucumbers! I believe the whole range has the same scent, including the Agave Cactus BB Cream, which I posted (and loved) about recently.

I find this range extremely expensive to buy in Singapore. But... I loved the samples too much to resist buying! I needed a new moisturiser, so I decided to cajole my husband into buying this for me =) My skin kind of broke out after using the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculping Cream (I am still not sure whether it really was the cream or I just happened to break out that week. I loved it at first because my face became really smaller after a few days!), so I decided to go for something lighter this time!

D-Up Wonder Eyelid Tape - for Mono Lids/ Uneven Double Lids

Good news for those with single eyelids or uneven double eyelids!!

For me, although I have double eyelids, when I am tired, the crease of my left eyelid will start to widen and I will end up with triple eyelids. Usually I won't have this problem if I am wearing false lashes, as the lashes will push up the eyelid and the double lids will stay in place. However, I do not wear false lashes to work, and I always end up with one small and one big eye by the end of the day -- not a pretty sight!

I find the usual eyelid tapes a bit unnatural when I stick them on -- as I can clearly see the tape when I blink! I also find eyelid glue too troublesome and messy to use. Finally I come across this amazing product -- Wonder Eyelid Tape! It's a double sided tape that sticks part of your eyelid together to create a natural looking crease.

Contains a pair of tweezers, 60 double sided eyelid tapes, instructions

Easy-to-follow illustrations in the instructions sheet (even though in Japanese)

So I tested the tapes out, and the results are pretty satisfying!

After removing the white backing of the eyelid tapes (just like normal double sided tapes), I pick up the tape using the tweezers provided and apply it to my lid -- where I want the crease to be.

BEFORE - triple lids

AFTER - defined double lids!

Much more even now! Will probably be even better with more practice!

The crease created is very natural, and it doesn't look like you have done anything to your lids unless you close your eyes (then you can see that your lids are 'glued' together). The only complain I have is that I find it difficult to use the tape with eyeshadow. If I use the tape before using eyeshadow, the powder tends to get stuck in the crease, creating a very obvious line of eyeshadow. If I stick the tape after the eyeshadow, the tape is not as sticky and the result will not last, because of all the powder! My instinct tells me that I should put on the tape before applying eyeshadow. Perhaps it will get better with more practice! I need to test that out.

So far, I have used the tapes for a few times, and I must say the lasting power is not that great -- the crease will stay in place for like 5 hours. I am not sure whether it's the product, or my problem with applying it. However, I still think this is a great product and I will keep practising till I get better results.

This is by no means a new product. It has been around for some time. I got mine from From Head to Toe, but you can also get it from BoboDave.

A Blog Award

I have mixed feelings when I post about this award. On one hand, I am very happy to be tagged for this award. On the other hand, I feel so ashamed~ because I was awarded this by Rakhshanda from Chamber of Beauty all the way back in September... and then now again by Elle from InsideOut Elle. Ok, how can I be so lazy to post about a blog award I received??
So anyways, thanks~~ Rakhshanda and Elle =)

Tutorial: Day to Night Look with Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Ready to Wear Eye Palette BU#1

Yesterday, I received a tutorial request from Icecherie, who asked if I could do a tutorial with the Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Ready to Wear Eye Palette BU#1, which I posted about not too long ago. I LOVE tutorial requests~ because it shows that I have readers who like my tutorials... YAY~!
I have decided to create 2 looks with the palette. Eye palette used:

From left to right, top to bottom: silver sparkle, frosty white, frosty light blue, frosty medium dark blue, black with sparkles

DAY LOOK
(for work perhaps?)
to
NIGHT LOOK
(time to head to out for a drink after work!!)
For some reason, why do my eyes look so strange when I look at the camera??!

DAY LOOK~
The Steps:
1. Apply eye primer. I think eye primer is a must for this Maybelline palette. The eyeshadow is quite powdery, so the color payoff will be better with eye primer.

2. Use the sponge applicator provided in the palette and apply the white eyeshadow all over your crease.

3. Line 2/3 of the lower lash line with the light blue eyeshadow.

4. Take the silver sparkle and apply to the inner corner of the lower lash line.

5. Line your eyes. Line the lower water line as well.

6. Apply black mascara. I prefer to put false lashes as I find it too time consuming to put 2-3 coats of mascara in the morning.

DAY LOOK FINISHED!!

NIGHT LOOK~
The Steps:
1. This is how the eyes will look at first.

2. Apply the light blue to 2/3 of your eyelid, starting from the inner corners.

3. Apply the dark blue to the remaining 1/3 of the eyelid at the outer corners.

4. Line the lower lash line with the dark blue.

5. Apply some black eyeshadow at the upper lash line, starting from the middle of the lash line, outwards to the outer corner. It's like lining your eyes with eyeshadow instead of eyeliner. I didn't line the whole of my upper lash line because I wanted more color at the outer conner of the eye only. I hope I am making sense here.

6. Take the black to go over the dark blue at the lower lash line.

7. Touch up on the color at the inner corner of the lower lash line with the white eyeshadow.

8. Re-line the eye with black eyeliner if the original eyeliner has already smudged.

9. Use your finger and dub some silver sparkle on the middle of the eyelid.

NIGHT LOOK COMPLETED!

For some reason, I realise that I have done a lot of tutorials using blue eyeshadow! I am thinking of doing a green smoky eyes tutorial soon~

Latest Buys from Online Clothing Shop Wardrobe 54

I like to buy work clothes from online shops, because the prices are more affordable, yet fashionable. I don't really like to wear my expensive clothing when I go to work! One of my favorite online shop (for work) is Wardrobe54. I am not sure where their clothes are made in, but the prices are really affordable. I know there are other online shops selling the same designs at even lower prices, but I quite like Wardrobe54, because I find their service pretty good. Usually, for these kind of online shops, they don't really accept exchange and refund (all sales final!!), but Wardrobe54 seems willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis. I have requested for exchange before and they agreed. I have encountered other online shops which refuse to exchange, even though the piece of clothing they sent me was absolutely unwearable!! Perhaps that is why I keep going back to Wardrobe54 =D

Most of their clothing are free size (except coats I think), suitable for girls who usually buy XS-M size. I won't say the quality and workmanship are fantastic, but that is to be expected for clothes at such low prices!!

These are designs I got! None of them are suitable for work this time hahaha! Some of the pieces are pretty short. I am around 157cm.

Black Lace Dress (Cheong Sam Design), SGD26.90
The material is quite sheer and it's very fitting. Not sure if I dare to eat anything when I wear this.

Pink Lace Dress, SGD26.90
The lining is quite thin, so I am definitely going to wear underskirt with this.

Red coat, SGD29.90
I am going to wear this in Hong Kong. Not going to buy expensive outerwear for such a short holiday!

Pretty nice too when you button it up

These are the pieces my sister bought and asked me to bring them over to Hong Kong. She asked me to model them for her ^^

Floral Chiffon Dress, SGD28.90
*Caution* Very sheer material. I wore underskirt to take this shoot. Matched it with a short tube too.

Long Sleeve Dress, SGD26.90
This is such a cute piece! I am soooo going to ask my sister to let me wear this!

Grey Baby Doll Dress, SGD33.90

I think I will buy something from them again soon! For work this time!
