NEW! Anna Sui Rose Cheek Color & Nail Art Color N

As a fan of both Anna Sui and red blushes, there is no way I will let pass the new Anna Sui Rose Cheek Color!! It is available in 6 variations, mainly pink, orange, coral, red, brown and lavender + blue (for highlighting).

I picked up #400, a combination of pink, rose and red.

Anna Sui Rose Cheek Color #400, 6g, $49 each

Casing is quite standard for Anna Sui

I swatched the 4 colors in the palette separately first:

In artificial white light

The pink on the far left is really a shimmer. The rest of the colors look like a variation of reds to me -- even the rose color in the palette turn out red at the back of my hand.

Natural daylight

The following 2 photos show how the cheek color looks when all 4 shades are mixed together.

In artificial white light

In natural daylight

#400 might look very red when swatched, but the intensity of the color could be easily controlled. I applied the colors thick so that they will show up in the photos. I have many friends who have the impression that red blush is too red, which I totally disagree. Red blush is really very natural (depending on how much you apply). Just like Benefit's famous benetint… it's supposed to be very natural, and it's red!

I definitely like the Rose Cheek Color better than the old range Anna Sui Color Accent because the pigment is better, has a little bit of shimmer, lasts longer, and the color shows up clearer!

I also couldn't resist picking up some nail colors, in the new packaging :)

Anna Sui Nail Art Color N, 8ml, $24 each

#071
Glossy opaque black

Some might be curious why I would choose such a plain black from Anna Sui. Well, just like reds, I prefer to buy from a good brand where intensity of color is achieved with just 2 coats :)

#270
Medium berry, more to purple than pink

What I really like about these polishes is that the finish is really really glossy! Both colors I applied 2 coats without top coat, and they are already super shiny. The polish in the 2 photos are surface dry, but they remain glossy enough for me not to put top coat after painting!

The formula is good and easy to apply. The brush is ok, though not as good as OPI's blushes, but good enough to apply streak free nail polish.

I am very happy with my purchase this time!

Tutorial: Anna Sui Glamorous Angelic Glittering Mermaid Inspired Look

I loved this look the moment I set my eyes on it!

Anna Sui Glamorous Angelic Look
Image from~ http://rockonannasui.tumblr.com/page/2

I photographed this tutorial before I looked at the original again, so after doing the tutorial I realised that my version is sort of different from original… oh well… hope you will like it nevertheless!

Inspired Look

Products used:
1. Anna Sui Double Eye Color 01 (reddish brown + indigo blue)
3. Shu Uemura drawing pencil 03 ME Blue
4. Stella Eyelashes AG3312
(have not bought from their online shop before, but I always go to their physical shop...)

The Steps:

1. Apply the reddish brown of Anna Sui Double Eye Color all over eyelid.

2. Apply indigo blue to the outer corner of eyelid. Blend using a small blending brush.

3. Apply indigo blue to the lower lash line. Intensify the color of upper eyelid if necessary and blend out any harsh edges. If you want to do this look, make sure the blue is intense. If you prefer a more 'natural' look and use less blue, this kind of vibrant shade will look 'dirty' instead of 'natural'.

4. Line your upper and lower lash line with a dark blue eyeliner with shimmer. Using a liner without shimmer will make the look more serious and less chic.

5. Apply a silver shimmery eyeshadow to the upper and lower inner corner of eyes.

6. Apply black mascara.

7. Apply eye glitter to the middle of eyelid and over the indigo blue eyeshadow.

8. To make the look more fun I put on blue eyelashes.

I aim to make my looks wearable and simple, suitable for everyone! I hope you have liked this one =D

2011 Anna Sui Beach Collection *Limited Edition*

I splurged. I am seldom able to resist when Anna Sui launches a new collection -- because I simply love vibrant colours and glitters! Anna Sui just launched a new limited edition collection, The Beach Collection. I love everything about this - from packaging to colours. The theme is Glittering Mermaid.

Double Eye Color, 0.8g, $39 each

Comes with double sponge applicators

Sponge picks up the eyeshadow which is inside the cap

The Double Eye Color eyeshadow is convenient to apply as the eyeshadow is in stick form with double sponge applicators. The eyeshadow is inside the cap so when you open the cap, the sponge will pick up the powder from the cap's interior.

Each stick has a frosty shade and a sparkly shade. The frosty shade is usually more intense while the latter more sheer. I am not an expert when it comes to textures, but I think the eyeshadow is a semi cream powder, so the colours apply really well, very pigmented and long lasting.

01 - brownish pink with red shimmer (sheer, sparkly), royal blue (intense, frosty)
02 - gold (quite sheer, sparkly), turquoise (intense, frosty)
03 - pale blue (quite sheer, sparkly), violet (intense, frosty)
05 - apple green (light but not as sheer, sparkly), yellowish gold (intense, frosty)
07 - silver (very sheer, sparkly), green (intense, frosty)

So far, I think my favourite is 01.

Eye Makeup Set 01, $58

The make set comes with a lovely tin box and consists of an eye glitter and a waterproof colour mascara.

Color Mascara Waterproof, 3.5ml

A vibrant violet, with matches well with pink, purple, blue, green and gold eyeshadow colours~

Glittering Eye Color 01 (Mascara-Eye Color), 3.5ml

This has clear base color with multi color glitters. The texture is a little like lipgloss, which takes sometime to dry after application. It can be applied to both the eyelids and eyelashes. It gives any eye makeup look a lovely glittery finish!

From left to right: glitter (alone), Double Eye Color 01 with glitter compared to without glitter

Pedicure Set 02, $78

The set comes in a cylindrical tin and consists of a set of toe separators, 2 nail polishes and a leg spray.

Leg Spray (leg lotion), 50ml

At first I really thought that this leg spray is totally a waste of money, but after I tried it, I love it! It has the Anna Sui signature rose scent and leaves my tired legs and feet relaxed. There is menthol in this leg spray, that is why it gives my legs a cooling sensation when applied.

Nail Color P, 5ml each

Left: 150, right: 950

Shade 150 is a frosty + shimmery turquoise whereas shade 950 is a translucent green glitter polish with big pieces of square gold glitters and small green ones.

I didn't swatch them on my nails as I could't get a clear picture of the colours on my nails.

My Anna Sui Nail Color Collection

I have been wanting to do this post for a while; all my Anna Sui nail polish had been in the 'standby' mode since the beginning of this year on my table! I can't believe it took me so long to finally get this done! Of course, I don't have the entire collection, but here I have what I think, from an avid nail color collector point of view, a few of the most unique colors in the market.

Anna Sui Nail Color N, SGD24 each

One of the biggest appeal of Anna Sui's nail colors is that they are glittery and most of them have a glossy jelly-like finish. I am not going to say too much here... let you be the judge whether you like her nail colors or not =) Most of the photos are taken with different lighting and from different angles, in order to achieve the most accurate color, as compared to real life.

#005

2 coats
Gold glitter polish, the most glittery polish in my collection
It has round glitters, mostly gold, some silver and some holographic

3 coats
This polish is good for nail art, and looks better with 3 coats when worn alone.

#200

A sheer frosty silver with small holographic glitters, probably better with 3 coats
A little boring for me, my least favorite

#202

A jelly wine red, looks like purplish red at some angles, has a sprinkling of small silver glitters
THIS IS MY FAVORITE COLOR OF THE LOT!

#203

A glossy dusty purple with a jelly like finish. Gold and purple small glitters, a little of round holographic glitters

#205, limited edition

It is sheer, slightly jelly, muted purple with tiny tiny gold, red and green shimmers/glitters (?)
This is one of the most unique shades I have ever seen

#305, can't really remember, might be a limited edition, MIGHT...

Glossy sheer nude pink with holographic dusts in different sizes

#307

Glittery pink with dark pink and silver glitters of the same size
Whenever I see this color, one word pops up in my mind: SAKURA

#318

Bright berry shade, has a little bit of gold and purple frost/ shimmer when admired closely (really too difficult to describe!)

#400

Glossy, jelly-like finish, orange red

#402

Dark jelly red with red and gold glitters

#701

Like a dusty muted purplish pink from bottle, but turns out a nude pink with silver glitters when applied

I applied 2 coats for all polish, except #005, the gold. I find it very hard to describe the colors, as the color combinations are so complex!

Which color do you like best? And before you don't, don't forget to join my JILL STUART GIVEAWAY which closes on 14 March 11!
