Review: SK-II Cellumination Mask-In Lotion, SK-II Cellumination Essence & SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge

SK-II Cellumination Mask-In Lotion, 100ml, SGD114
http://www.skii.com.tw/

A semi-translusent lotion

This is a new product launched, I believe, in February in Singapore, together with the new Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser. This product is like a leave on mask that brightens the skin, at the same time moisturises it. It helps to lighten dark spots and improves the radiance of the skin. It also helps the skin to absorb any essence or moisturiser that is applied afterwards better.

I started using this lotion 2 weeks ago, day and night, applied before the Cellumination Essence. Already very impressed by the Essence, I think that this Mask-In Lotion has further improved the clarity and radiance of my skin. As SK-II products are very pricy, I actually finished a sample of it before I decided to buy it. I do not regret my purchase.

A milky essence

I adore this essence. I just used up a 50ml last month, and now onto my 2nd jar. I have another one waiting by my dressing table, which I asked a friend to purchase for me in Hong Kong. How shall I express what wonderful things this essence does to my skin?? My skin has become fairer and more radiant, even without make up. I get less blemishes and pimple scars seem to lighten. Being a pickle minded person, when it comes to skin care, I think I am so pleased with this essence that I will keep buying it! I do not see anything negative about this product, except for the price tag. It is like SGD100 cheaper if you buy it at the Changi Airport duty free. At the airport, you can get the 50ml at the same price as the 30ml at counters in departmental stores. Last December, I got a really good deal there, as they had this gift set, retailed at SGD269, which contained a 50ml Cellumination Essence and 50ml Deep Surge.

The Cellumination Deep Surge has a very interesting texture that I find hard to describe. It is definitely not an emulsion or lotion, but also not exactly cream. When you scoop the product up with a spatula, it doesn't slide off from the spatula. It reminds me of sorbet and snow, but thicker.

I use a 10 cent coin amount for face and neck. The product absorbs easily into the skin and does not require too much of massaging in; so people who don't like to spend too much time applying skincare would be glad to hear this. After 2 weeks of using this, my face is more evenly toned and clear, and look much more radiant (notice how many times I used the word 'radiant' in this post?). Skin is smooth to the touch. I prefer this moisturiser to the Skin Signature because my skin seems to absorb it better and my face does not feel as greasy, as compared to the times I apply other moisturisers. Some people recommend using this at night, and use Skin Signature in the morning, but I use Deep Surge both day and night, and I do not have any problems with it. My make up applies just fine, and my face does not become more oily.

I am totally addicted to SK-II, as other brands do not offer me the same results so far. I need to stock up in Hong Kong/ Changi Airport, as I think the products are way over-priced in Singapore, and I cannot imagine spending SGD299 every 2 months for the Cellumination Essence.

If you have to choose 1 out of the 3, I recommend the Cellumination Essence! It might work for you if your skin condition is similar to mine: combination to oily (cheeks and T-zone), slightly sensitive.

I really think I have to stop buying clothes and start saving up because having crystal clear skin is more important then anything else =)

Review: SKII Facial Treatment Cream Foundation

Hi everyone! Today I finally blog again!!

Image from http://us.strawberrynet.com/makeup/sk-ii/facial-treatment-cream-foundation/115060/
I couldn't take a clear photo of my own jar of foundation... so...

I am sure most of my regular readers would know I adore the SKII Cellumination Essence -In Foundation from my previous post! I was really eager to try SKII's latest cream foundation as I do have high opinion of their foundation in general. I will compare both foundations here a little.

I have already heard about this foundation last year, from a Taiwanese variety show, and am surprised it took pretty long for the foundation to reach Singapore. I got this in February. Not sure if it was available since January though...

Anyway, this is the description of the product from the leaflet inside the box:

"This foundation contains concentrated SKII Pitera. It is rich in feel and spreads easily. A quick and radiant translucent finish, and keeps your skin moisturised even after removal. It protects skin against UV rays SPF20++ and is fragrance free. Skin moisturising ingredient (Galactomyces ferment filtrate)"

This amount is sufficient for half the face

When applied thickly

Blends in well when applied lightly

I must say I am totally pleased with this foundation, because it is able to control oil on my T-zone pretty well! I compared this with all my other foundations (Cellumination Foundation, Laneige Mystic Veil Foundation, Lancome Teint Miracle, Freshel W Cream UV, SkinFood Agave Cactus) and the new SKII wins without a doubt! Usually when I apply other foundations, I see shine in about 1 hour's time, and 3 hours later, the shine will be pretty unacceptable and I have to blot and touch up (because my nose area will start to look a little red). The new SKII is able to control the shine for about 3 hours, and after that I just need to blot every hour or so. It's not that I have really oily skin, but I like my face to be smooth and matte at all times. So, my conclusion is that this foundation is indeed moisturising, therefore able to control oil well!

I am a M.A.C NC20, and the color that blends in well to my skin color is 420 Clear Beige. I use the same color for the Cellumination range as well. Comparatively, the Cream version has a better coverage and I actually think it provides full coverage. However, I do think the Cellumination one gives my skin a more radiant finish as my face just seems to have this "glow from within" after application, which I don't see as much when I use the Cream one. For both foundations, I finish off with loose powder for that matte finish, but for those who prefer the dewy look, I think you could use the Cellumination one without loose powder. For the Cream one, I still recommend finishing off with powder, as the finish might be to the "oily" side if you don't =)

I use the spatula provided to scope the foundation out, and I prefer to apply with a sponge (as the texture is thicker - similar to Laneige Mystic Veil Foundation).

I highly recommend this foundation! I don't regret spending my SGD109 on this one!

Cate Blanchett & Rochas SK-II 2010 Christmas Set Emulsion Compact (Limited Edition)

The SKII Cellumination Essence-in Foundation is my current favourite foundation. I love this foundation because of these reasons:
1) Evens out my skin tone
2) Makes me look fair
3) Easy to apply and spread
4) Good enough coverage
5) My skin appears fair even I remove the foundation

This is a cream compact foundation. It turns semi-powdery upon application. It gives a dewy finish, and gives your complexion a radiant glow.

You can imagine my excitement when SKII released a limited edition casing for this foundation this Christmas!!

This compact is the result of a collaboration between ROCHAS, Cate Blanchett and SKII. "ROCHAS is a fashion, beauty and perfume house founded in 1925 by Marcel Rochas, the first founder of 2/3 length of coats and skirts with pockets." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochas). Cate Blanchett personally designed this beautiful champagne compact. This Christmas set comes with 3 things:

1) Emulsion Compact
2) Choice of Cellumination Essence-in Foundation or Skin Signature Cream-in Foundation
3) SKII Facial Treatment Essence in 150ml or 215ml

The price of the set is the price of the foundation refill + Facial Treatment Essence. So technically, the casing is free. I am not sure whether this is available elsewhere other than Hong Kong. I chose the Cellumination Essence-in Foundation (HKD400) and Facial Treatment Essence 215ml (HKD980).
