NOTD: CHANEL Le Vernis 469 Imperial

I got this at Changi Airport at $29. It's a dark chocolate shade. I love this color!! I have been wearing this color for 3 days already, and no chips yet. Not sure if that's because I painted this color over my Gelish  manicure June Bride. Well usually, any nail color would chip on me by the 2nd day…

Review: Chanel UV Essentiel Multi-Protection Daily Care SPF50/PA+++

30ml, SGD73

After reading lots of positive reviews from Makeup Alley, I decided to give this expensive sunblock a try, though I really have been using drugstore sunblock for a very long time, like my favorite from Kanebo.

I like the elegant, simple packaging of this Chanel UV protector. Though its just white and rectangular, you can tell that it's expensive stuff (I have no idea why my HTC Desire HD camera pics turned all blurry here).

This sunblock has a noticeable floral scent, typical in Chanel skincare (I must say I bought it partly because I was attracted to the scent). The texture is neither thick nor runny. When spread on face, it is slightly whitish; but when I let the stuff settle into my skin, I don't see the color anymore, though it does leave behind a slightly sticky feeling like most sunblocks do. I think it can be used as a sunblock + primer, as the chinese description says "多重防晒隔离乳", where the last 3 words means "primer". This is not really stated in the English description though.

I do not see any special improvement in my skin after using this for a week, and I do find foundation application slightly more difficult as it is "stickier" then the Kanebo one I was used to. Foundation is kind of harder to spread on face evenly, but not really so difficult that it becomes a problem.

I have mixed feelings for this product. Though I like the feeling of spreading it on my face because it feels like a nicely scented moisturiser, I find the price of it too high for me to repurchase.

OPI Shatter

OPI Shatter E59, SGD19

Ok I know this is not new~ but it's new to me! I discovered this exciting new polish from OPI that "shatters" into uneven "pieces" upon application~

It looks like just a normal black nail polish

I first applied base coat, then 2 coats of China Glaze SCI-FI, a Khrome purplish silver. After the polish is thoroughly dry, I apply one moderately thick coat of OPI Shatter.

The OPI Shatter dries matte in about 30 seconds, and amazingly cracks into intricate irregular patterns! If you apply a thinner coat, you get patterns that are smaller; if you apply a thicker coat, the polish cracks into bigger pieces.

OPI Shatter over China Glaze SCI-FI with glossy top coat.

I experimented OPI Shatter over a few other colors of polish. I think Shatter works best over glitter polish and light, bright colors! My favorite is the pink on my pinkie!

On index finger: OPI Shatter over Ettussai Nail Color N in VI1 and Chanel Nail Color 237 Pepite

On middle finger: OPI Shatter over OPI Amazing Alice A56

On ring finger: OPI Shatter over Zoya Bekka

On pinkie: OPI Shatter over Anna Sui Nail Color N in 318

Quick get your own OPI Shatter and have lots of fun with it =)

Tutorial: Yoon Eun Hye ~ My Fair Lady Inspired Look

http://hellohallyu.blogspot.com/2009/07/photos-of-yoon-eun-hye-in-my-fair-lady.html
(more beautiful pics of Yoon Eun Hye from the above blog!)

I recently re-watched my favourite Korean Drama My Fair Lady on DVD. As I was watching the show, Yoon Eun Hye's eye make up really caught my attention. Her make up was never really smokey or heavy, but there was just this certain glamour to her eyes. I sort of studied her eye make up while watching the show (at the same time almost swooning each time the charismatic male lead, Yoon Sang Hyun appeared on screen) and decided to create an inspired look with my Chanel Les 4 Ombres in 19 Enigma palette.

THIS IS THE LOOK!
Sorry~ I look no where near Yoon Eun Hye ^^;

Products used for this look:

Left to right, top to bottom: Chanel Les 4 Ombres in 19 Enigma, Maquillage 3D Face Creator in 55, Koji Lash Specialist Long & Seperate Mascara, Majolica Marjoca Curl Curl Toward the Sky Mascara Base, Koji Smooth Eyeliner, MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Duck, Makemania Curvy Lip Silicone
From top to bottom: light pink with gold shimmer, metallic moss green with silver shimmer, really dark brown with silver shimmer, dark plum with a little bit of silver shimmer

13 Simple Steps:

1. Using a black eye liner, draw a dot on your eyelid to mark where your line will end. Dot the other eyelid and make sure both sides match.

2. Draw a moderately thick line from your inner corner of eye to the dot you had just drawn.

3. Using a liner brush, smudge the line you had drawn to blur its harsh edges.

4. Use your black eyeliner again and line your lower lash line from the inner corner. Leave a little of the outer corner unlined.

5. Use a brown eyeliner to line the outer corner of your lower lash line. The line should be softer and not be so obvious.

6. Using the moss green from your Chanel eyeshadow palette, blend the color over the line you had smudged.

7. Then, blend the dark brown eyeshadow at your medium eyelid. Do not apply too much. You just want a little bit of shimmer and color.

8. Apply the dark plum eyeshadow over the black line of your lower lash line. Do not apply any over the brown one. This will help set your eyeliner.

9. Apply the light pink eyeshadow all over your eyelid (as the color is really light, it doesn't really show up in the photos, but it sure brightens your eyes in real life). If you want to use a color even closer to Yoon Eun Hye's in the show, use a shimmery peachy pink!

10. Curl your lashes. Apply mascara base and black mascara. Don't forget your lower lashes.

11. Apply false lashes to the outer corner of eyes. Do not use full lashes. You don't want a dramatic look!

12. Fill in your brows and apply a beige blusher to the apples of your cheeks.

13. Apply a clear gloss to the centre of your lips to create natural yet juicy lips.

FINISHED!

Phew! This was a difficult look for me as I am not really good at drawing lines. And because the colors used are not really dark (I refer to the pink), the look was difficult to be captured in a photo. I hope you can see more than just black lines on my eyelids!

Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!

Chanel Fall 2010 Collection Les 4 Ombres in 19 Enigma Swatch

When I first saw Chanel's Fall 2010 Limited Edition Les 4 Ombres in 19 Enigma, I knew that I had to have it! All 4 shades are shimmery, some more so than others.

Beautiful shimmery shades

Align CenterFrom top to bottom: light pink with gold shimmer, dark metallic moss green with silver shimmer, really dark brown with silver shimmer, dark plum with a little bit of silver shimmer (pic taken in white lighting)

Pic taken in yellow lighting

I applied the Anna Sui Eye Brightener before swatching this because I usually find Chanel eyeshadow a little sheer and I wanted the colours to show up in the photos.

I really like this palette! I can use this to create a soft look, smokey eyes, or simply using the dark shades to line my eyes. The silver shimmer for the dark shades make the colours really special. I love it!!

I will be doing a tutorial with this palette so do come back and visit soon! =D

My Top 10 Favourite Nail Colours of All Time

I love nail polish and my first purchase of cosmetics was a bottle of Maybelline nail polish in frosty pink (at the age of 14). I have a huge collection of nail polish and I have carefully selected 10 of my favourites from my enormous collection to post here.

A few trusted sites to purchase nail polish (Zoya, China Glaze, Nubar) are Trans Design, Nails de Royale and Head2Toe. But do observe any restrictions in your countries' postal services when purchasing nail varnish.

My favourites (from dark to light):

Chanel Le Vernis in 461 Blue Satin (S$35)
Dark blue shimmer. From afar, you might think this is a black cream. But as you look closely, this is actually a dark blue with very subtle black shimmer!

Orly nail lacquer in Happily Ever After (S$19 approx)
A dark berry red with blue undertone and shimmer! This is simply divine! Flatters my skin tone, makes my hands look fairer.

Anna Sui nail colour in 400 (S$24)
A true red. It looks slightly darker in real life. This is from Anna Sui's old nail colour collection. However, I think there are many other brands selling similar shade of red. Not to be confused with the new collection colour 400 (it's an orange red). This colour makes my hands look fairer too!

China Glaze nail lacquer in Ruby Pumps (US$6.50 approx)
A cherry red with red sparkles! It is not cream or frost or shimmer. It's a jelly sparkle! There is this glass-like quality to it when applied. Lovely! It is funky yet classy.

Zoya nail lacquer in Harlow (Matte) (US$7)
A very sophisticated purple-dark pink. This is a matte with shimmer. You have to see it to understand! I think this is a very unique colour.

Fancl nail colour in 25 (S$15.50)
A pretty mauve with subtle gold shimmer. I still remember seeing a girl wearing a similar shade on the MRT, loved it, and went around looking for a similar colour. Most shades looked either too purple or too pink! Finally, after a few weeks, I found this colour at the Fancl counter. It was one of the last places I looked, as I didn't even know Fancl sold nail polish then (probably 5-6 years ago).

OPI nail lacquer in I42 Elephantastic Pink (S$19-$23.50)
A unique hot pink. This is not just any normal hot pink. It is a super pretty pink with blue undertone! I did a manicure in this colour at the nail salon and I remember I could not stop staring at it.

Nubar nail lacquer in Chocolate Caramel (US$7.49)
I really don't know how to describe this! It looks exactly like the pic above. Exactly like caramel, with shimmer and a little bit of sparkle. I had to keep my fingers away from my teeth as I simply love caramel.

OPI nail lacquer in C89 Chocolate Moose (S$19-23.50)
A very easy-to-wear and match-everything-and-anything kind of cream brown.

Chanel Le Vernis in 257 Perle Rosee (S$35)
I think this was a limited edition. It is a light shimmery+frosty nude pink. There is a similar colour from Paul & Joe which is still available at the counters.

Hope you love some of the colours I love. Do leave some comments here if you want to share your favourite nail colours with me!
