Review: Jill Stuart Sugar Lip Scrub (limited edition)

I ordered this from Gooddealer on 9 October and it arrived today! I think you can sense my excitement! I have always wanted a scrub for my lips, but has never really seen any similar products except Benefit, which I found a little expensive at SGD60+ (lip scrub + lip balm. But I don't need a Benefit lip balm, so...) And hey! This product is from Jill Stuart! With really princess-like packaging.

This is the product description on the box -- 'Infused with sugar, grape seed oil and berry extracts to polish and moisturize for baby lips'.

I know it has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the product, but I simple love the big crystal detail on the cap!

Like a lip balm

The product feels like a lip balm, glossy and 'oily' like Vaseline, with very fine grains for gentle scrubbing. I applied this over my dry lips like a lip balm, used my finger to gentle scrub the lips and its immediate surrounding areas with gentle circular motions, then left the scrub on for 5 minutes. After that I gently wiped away the product with a wet cotton pad, rinsed with water, and applied my Nivea Lip Care.

I liked the effect of this scrub on my lips!
My lips looked pink, plump and moisturized after use. Lip lines were reduced and lips were smooth and soft to the touch. I didn't detect any particular scent while using this product, but when I sniffed it closely, I could smell a faint pleasant fruity berry smell.

I think that this is a very interesting product, and will continue to use it regularly (once or twice a week as instructed by the instructions on the box)=D

LOTD: Coffret D'or C-curve Eyes #07 (limited edition)

This is the look I had for work today! Of course, I didn't wear the false lashes to work, but I just soooo felt like wearing them that I put a pair on after work to take these photographs. I am so depraved of wearing false lashes! But then, I think I chose the wrong design because the lashes kind of covered the nice plum color of the eyeshadow when I opened my eyes...

Ok pictures first!

Arghhh... sorry my eye looks so red and tired... oh but then, I am really tired =) Anyway, to wear this pair of falsies, I should wear lower lashes as well, so as to balance out the long upper lashes.

I had to edit the background of the photos because my house is really messy at the moment. Didn't do a very good job of it though. My apologies!

This is the main eye palette I used:

Coffret D'or C-curve Eyes #07 (limited edition)

From left to right, top to bottom: shimmery black (liner color), shimmery light pink (c-curve color), sparkly lavender, shimmery plum

The c-curve color's texture is semi-cream. When you touch it, it is slightly wet; but when you apply it, it becomes power, therefore it gives you longer wear! The sparkly lavender (more cool then warm) applies powdery and prone to fall outs (as like all sparkly shades), so I recommend using a good primer for all the C-curve palettes. The shimmery plum (reddish tone) is more silky in texture, very smooth and easy to apply.

Comes in a very slim casing

I didn't attempt anything special with this palette. After applying my Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion, I applied the sparkly lavender to my inner crease, all the way to the middle lid. Then, I blended the plum from middle lid to outer lid. After that, I used a small blending brush and applied the black liner color to the outer corner of my eye lid in circular motions. The method I used is exactly the same as how I did it in my Barbie Doll Look tutorial (the way I applied the grey shimmery shadow). Then I lined my lower lash line with the plum, then black, then added the lavender to the inner corners. Last, I applied the c-curve color as highlight to my brow bow area and area under my eyes (putting the color there will instantly brighten up your eyes, as well as cover any dark circles (a little ^^).

I love this look. I find the colors slightly similar to my Purple Jewel Smokey Eyes tutorial, only less dramatic and easier to wear!

Products used:

Eyes:
1) Coffret D'or C-curve Eyes #07
2) Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion
3) Ardell lashes 120 Demi Black

Cheeks:
Majolica Marjoca PK333

Lips:
Maybelline Water Shine Collagen Gloss P31

As mentioned in my previous post, I purchased the Coffret D'or C-curve Eyes #06 as well.

Left to right, top to bottom: Shimmery bronzy dark brown (liner color), shimmery light lemon (c-curve color - you can't really see its lemon, as I think it really looks like regular shimmery highlight color when you apply it), sparkly silvery lemon (I am not sure if lemon is the right word... maybe its champagne??), shimmery taupe brown (almost metallic)

Are you going to get any of these palettes? =)

Apologies to anyone who has been waiting for more tutorials etc... (hopefully there are?!)

I should finally be able to take a breath from tomorrow onwards and hopefully I will be able to post some new tutorials. I just have so many ideas but not the time to do it -_-

I am looking forward to posting a tutorial on mascara application this week =D

Quite random, but this is what I got from the postman today! YAY! I am going to use the brown palette tomorrow! Got mine from Adam Beauty.

Recent Lipcolor Hauls (M.A.C/ Maquillage/ ZA)

Last week or so, I was suddenly in the mood for lip color and bought a few from the counters, as well as drugstore. I bought from Maquillage, M.A.C and ZA. To my surprise, ZA turns out to be my favorite!

MAQUILLAGE

Maquillage Rouge Enamel Glamour RD387, SGD43

This is the model use color in the pamphlets. I actually purchased this because I thought that it looked gorgeous on the model. Such intense and glossy color!

So anyway, this is supposed to be a long lasting lip color and involves 2 steps during application. I am sure many readers would have read about this rouge already because this is really not that new anymore. First, I apply the rouge color (color on right side of pic), wait for around 2 minutes for the formula to dry, then apply the gloss on left side of the tube. My experience with the application is that it is better to use a lip brush for precise application, because this color is really quite intense so the lip brush really prevents any uneven application. The rouge color is very lasting, and really stays put as long as I don't eat. However, I did try eating with this on the other day and the color flaked quite horribly. There were really flakes of lip color left on my chopsticks as I was eating. I recommend removing the lip color first before you eat, or else you will end up eating a lot of lip product!! Despite the horrible experience at lunch, I might consider buying other colors next time (because it's so glossy!).

From left to right: lip rouge only (dries semi-matte), lip rouge with gloss, gloss

M.A.C

Since I was in the mood for long lasting lip color, I purchased this shortly after I got the Rouge Enamel Glamour.

M.A.C Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Unlimited, SGD32

M.A.C's classic minimalistic packaging

I would consider this quite a 'bright' muted (??) pink

I find this color a little hard to describe. It is a very visible color (so I consider it bright), but it is not really a bright pink (therefore muted). This lip creme dries matte, and that is why it is more long lasting. Same as Maquillage, it is better to remove color before eating! Or else you will get patches of color on your lips after your meal. This was quite moisturising for me.

ZA

This was my first ZA lips color purchase. I am really impressed by it, and probably will buy more when I see nice colors!

I kind of liked the pink plastic packaging!

Pure Shine Lips, SGD13.90 each. Top to bottom: RD4 Lady Red, PK1 Petal Pink (colors appear a bit too bright here, more accurate colors below in the swatch pic)

This is my favorite of the lot. Quite moisturising. I can actually apply this without lip balm. Although the lipstick applies sheer, but you can clearly see the color on your lips. The PK1 is a bright pink (hmmm more blue kind of pink... if you know what I mean, gives you a dolly look) and RD4 is a SUPER PRETTY shimmery red. I love RD4. It is red, but not that red. Gives my lips a really sweet and shimmery color. Highly recommended for those who wants to try red, but find red too intense for frequent wear.

Plumper Lips SGD17.90, Cinnamon Shimmer #03

I believe that this is a new product. This has a moisturising formula with fill-up collagen, and that is why your lips is supposed to appear more plump after application. This is the color I wore for my Anna Sui LOTD last week. I think this is a very good color if you want nude lips! Goes with anything, from sweet makeup to smokey eyes =)

Plumper Lip Gloss SGD9.90, Playful Pink #09

This is new with the Plumper Lips. Nothing really special about this color. Just a regular pink gloss. Also comes in red, other pinks and nude, the regular colors. The other colors might be better than this one I have picked! Nothing much to talk about this gloss. The formula is not too watery, not too sticky, just right. I might look at the other colors again (since it's so affordable).

From left to right: Pure Shine Lips RD4 Lady Red, Pure Shine Lips PK1 Petal Pink, Plumper Lips #03 Cinnamon Shimmer, Plumper Lip Gloss #09 Playful Pink

In conclusion, I love everything I got, especially the ZA Pure Shine Lips RD4 Lady Red.

Video Tutorial: How to Apply Foundation for a Flawless Finish

My dear reader Alvira recently suggested that I do a video tutorial on how I apply my foundation, and I thought, why not? So here it is! I was really vain and couldn't stand the thought of appearing in a video without makeup, so I wore a pair of false lashes. Forgive me for my vanity!
I used a lot of control colors in this video, so if you are not going for that perfect finish, you really can skip those steps and just go with foundation, concealer and loose powder =)
I really hope that you will find this tutorial helpful!

ENJOY!

Hello Kitty 2011 Calendar

Yesterday I was at Vivo City and dropped by Sanrio to look for any cute Hello Kitty new arrivals. As I was on a tight budget, I only picked up 2 calendars for 2011. There were so many styles to choose from (including Little Twin Stars), I simply couldn't make up my mind for a long time. Finally, I settled on these.

This calendar is around A4 size. It's a hanging calendar. SGD13.95

12 different Kitty designs. Really pretty.

There is a 2012 calendar on the last page.

There is a small pouch for putting important papers and envelops on the last page of the calendar.

Stickers provided to paste on special dates!

This is for table top. Only SGD11.95! I intend to put it on my office table next year.

Different Kitty every month!

I really can't wait to use these calendars!

I also exchanged my Sanrio membership points for this mini teapot set. Honestly I have no idea what to do with it. But since my membership points were expiring, I had no choice but to redeem them.

I enjoyed my trip to Sanrio thoroughly. I just wished I could purchase more!

LOTD: Anna Sui Eye Color Duo #03

This is what I did for work yesterday with Anna Sui's Eye Color Duo #03. The photo was taken 9 hours after application (and a day of hectic work) so the colors might seem a bit washed off, especially the color at my lower lash line.

As my workplace is a little conservation for makeup and dressing, I didn't dare to put too much of the product!

This is the palette I used. Gold powder eyeshadow and blue cream shadow. You can see the swatch for this palette here.

First I applied the blue shadow at the outer eyelid, then blended the product slightly upwards to open up my eyes. Then I applied the gold shadow on my inner and middle lid, making sure the color blended with the blue. The area where the 2 colors met became green =) That was it! Simple! Didn't have too much time in the morning to do anything complex...

I loved the lipstick I used. It's a nude beige, newly launched by ZA, perfect to go with anything, especially smokey eye makeup. I will probably write more about this lipstick in my coming posts. As I didn't reapply the lipstick to take this photo, the color isn't really that beige/nude.

Hope you like this look!
