Olay Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream

It's amazing how breathing in Hong Kong air makes me feel happier instantly!

I went to Watson's today and picked up some necessities, together with this Olay Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream. I am sure most gurus would already know this is one of Olay's classic product. I have heard that this is quite a good product, but this is the first time I am trying it. I can't really remember how much this retails in Singapore; I bought this at 30% off, original price is HKD149.90.

As like all Total Effects products, this eye cream is 7-in-1 as well, and claims to:
1. Correct dullness
2. Helps brighten eye area
3. Helps even out skin tone around eye area
4. Reduce wrinkles
5. Moisturise eye area
6. Smoothen eye area
7. Tighten eye area

As I only used this product twice, I am not sure whether it works well or not.

At this point, I can say that it does moisturise eye area, and does not smudge my eye make up. It also does not produce white residue like some eye creams.

The cream has a rather thick texture which reminds me of those 'grandmother cream'. When I test this cream on the back of my hand, I think I see some really fine shine particles (??) which I believe will brighten the appearance of the skin around my eye area. I hope my eyes are not playing tricks on me!

This product also seems fragrance free as my nose doesn't sniff any scent at all. I hope it will work well for me!

Which is your favourite eye product? Currently mine is Bio-essence 24K Gold Eye Lifting Serum.

NEW Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

NEW Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream, 50g, SGD59.90

I really want to hold this purchase till December when I visit Hong Kong, because I know that it is going to be much cheaper there. But after hearing so much raves about this product, whether on TV or online, I cannot hold myself longer and went ahead with the purchase.

This cream is really expensive~ It's totally overpriced in Singapore! It retails at SGD59.90 here, can be found in normal drugstores like Watson's and Guardian. I happened to be at Raffles City last Saturday, and they were having 20% off these. I visited the Taiwan Olay website, and found out that it's only retailing at NT990 there (equivalent to approx SGD42)! Even though I got this at SGD47.92 with the 20% off, I still find it a total rip off, bearing in mind that this is the discounted price. Oh well! Since I can't wait, I guess I should really stop complaining =)

This cream claims to outperform the world's most expensive creams, even the $500 one, based on an European independent research institute's hydration test of several $100+ creams in 2008.

This is what the cream promises to do (after 4 weeks of use):
1) Firm the appearance of sagging-prone areas, which are around the eyes, jaw line and neck.
2) Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
3) Restore elasticity and suppleness of the skin

Hmmm... so... I conclude that this cream is like an anti-aging cream, preventing, as well as reducing the signs of aging.

High class looking red jar packaging

Gel-cream texture, lightly fragranced

I consider the texture of this cream to be like gel-cream. It's not really very rich, has a refreshing feel upon application (therefore like a gel), but also moisturising (therefore like a cream). It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it plump and hydrated. I am not sure about the firming part yet, since I have only used it once (tonight). I will update after a few more weeks of use!

The cream has a light floral scent, which I am totally OK with. I like the scent better then the Pristine White Radiance Essence.

Please be back to check for any updates of the cream =D
I am going to try film my Shu Uemura Florescent Inspired Look tomorrow, hopefully it will go well!

Review: Olay Pristine White Radiance Essence (Update)

It's been more than a month since I wrote about my excitement over the Olay Pristine White Radiance Essence (named White Radiance CelLucent White Essence in Singapore it seems)( you could read that post here). So I have since been using the essence I had bought from Sasa. Before that, I was using L'oreal's latest whitening essence White Perfect Radiance Boosting Double Essence, which I kind of raved about previously (my review is here). Since they are both drugstore skincare, I think it might be appropriate to make some small comparisons.

I will talk about the Olay essence first. I still don't see it selling anywhere yet (I have not checked bigger drugstores in town though). According to Haru (Rouge Deluxe) in her post, she mentioned that the essence should arrive in Singapore this month. She also mentioned that it will probably be priced at SGD59.90, which I find a total rip off! That's because I got mine from Sasa.com at US25.60 only, not including shipping (approximately SGD34, unfortunately out of stock at the time of this post). On top of that, I checked the Taiwan Olay website and apparently it's only NT890 (equivalent to approximately SGD38) there. I totally will not buy the product in Singapore if I can help it!

This is one pump of the product

Quite runny, but considered thick for an essence

The texture of the essence is quite runny, though I feel it's kind of thick for an essence. It felt almost like an emulsion. The product absorbs into my skin quickly and I use one full pump to cover the whole face. It has a very soft floral scent, which I don't find overpowering or unpleasant (but then I am the type who don't mind scented skincare). The L'oreal essence was more runny and took longer time to be fully absorbed, comparatively.

As for the results, I can't say that I am entirely impressed by it. It definitely maintains the fairness of my skin, but I don't see any improvement to it. The L'oreal essence was able to deliver the same results. I must say I am slightly disappointed by it, because I was really expecting dramatic results because I have heard so many raves about it! I am not saying that the product is entirely useless, just that it is simply not making any significant improvement to my skin to make me want to repurchase.

To conclude, I think the Olay essence is a must try if you can get it at around SGD40. However, you might want to skip if it is going to cost you SGD60. Go for the L'oreal one instead!

NEW Olay White Radiance Pristine White Essence & Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX

Today came my package from Sasa.com! I was really excited because I had been eyeing on the new Olay whitening essence ever since I came to hear about its benefits sometime in May this year... Along with my package was the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX.

NEW! Olay White Radiance Pristine White Essence 40ml

Comes in a drip bottle...

Olay products claim to have the counter skincare brands quality with drug store price tags. Indeed, I have been using their Total Effect 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Cream (night use) and I do find the results just as good as my Estee Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme SPF15 (morning use). I checked out Watson's almost everyday and still no signs of the new essence for sale in Singapore yet. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was when Sasa.com posted this up!

Anyway, so what's so good about this product? Unlike other whitening products which only help to lighten your dark spots, this product claims to be able to prevent the production of melanin before they are formed. At the same time, of course it will help lighten existing spots, even out skin tone and provide lasting hydration.

It comes in a drip bottle which makes the essence really hygienic and convenient to use! Since I am still using my L'oreal White Perfect Radiance Boosting Double Essence, I will give updates on the effectiveness of this essence at a later time =)

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX 80ml

The Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX is definitely not a new product. But I have heard so many wonderful things about this that I finally decided to get it. This is a product where you apply after your moisturiser before you go to sleep. This is like an overnight mask and you do not have to rinse after application. It claims to provide intensive hydration, vitality, and brightening effects for the skin. It is also supposed to relax your skin while you are sleeping. I am going to try this tonight...
