1920s Makeup Look/ Makeover

O.M.G.

I am guilty for neglecting my blog for the past 2 months!! I have been really busy, and the only thing I do after work is to watch an hour a day of Korean drama -_- Right now, I am crazy over Gaksital, starring Joo Won. Anyone else watching the same drama? Kekeke!

A quick post today to showcase a makeup look I had done on Audrey earlier on.

For her eyes, I used a black cream eyeshadow as base, then went over the base with black powder eyeshadow. I also used a medium brown for blending and matte white as highlight. The key to making this look work is to use a lot of black liner and eyeshadow!! Recently, I am rather obsessed with red lipsticks, so I decided to finish off the look with a fiery red lip color.

Ok, that's all for today. Off to sleep~~ The next post will not be a month later. Promise >_____<"

Spring makeup and hair: Garden Tea Party Look

The 1st set of photos for my makeup portfolio are finally out!!!
I am so excited to share o(^____^)o

On the day of portfolio making with the makeup school, we had time to create 4 different looks. This is the last look I created for the day: Garden Tea Party Look.

This is an Anna Sui inspired look. I didn't really want to spend on accessories, so I made do with what I already had at home.

For the eye makeup, I opted for strong contrasting colors: blue, purple, yellow and white for the eyelids, pink and green for lower lash line.

As the eye makeup is the focal point of this look, I used natural blush and a soft shade for the lips.

For my model's hair, I wanted to create a soft, romantic look. I curled her hair, pinned them up by sections and left a few strands of curls at the side to frame her face.

This is one of my favourite looks of that day!

Fashion Makeup/makeover for more friends/performances!

A quick sharing of some of my recent work - makeup related :)

Makeup: Ashura
Photography: Jensen
Model: Audrey

The 2 photos above are taken for my makeup portfolio by my photography com web designer friend Jensen. This is 1 of the 3 looks I came up with last week during the photography session. More photos will be uploaded once I am free to go choose the rest from Jensen!

Natural sweet and feminine makeup for LX, who was going to attend her friend's wedding dinner :)

Chic 'going out' makeup for XQ. Sassy and not over the top.

Smoky eyes for my friend W. She has such big eyes that I just wanted to do makeup for her!

Bridal makeup and hair for WA. My hairstyle are more of the unconventional sort. I like braids and soft curls - more of those romantic looks.

Makeup for Indonesian performers at the Orchard Road Christmas performance 2011. Gold and turquoise eyes!

Blue and black eyeshadow for the Japanese performer, who wanted less eyeshadow after I was done. LOL.

The last performer I did makeup for that day (out of many many many others), who wanted the same smoky eye makeup I had on myself! Hahaha!

Hope you liked these looks ^_______^

Chinese Opera Makeup

Okie… this will probably be of no interest to those who don't know me personally.
This is what I did to myself today during makeup class. LOL!

Just for fun!!

Will be back with a Naruko review and Cat's eye tutorial soon!

Makeup of the Day: Cat's Eye Part 2

This is Part 2 of my Cat's Eye makeup post

I seriously want to improve my eyeliner skills, hence I am going to keep practising the Cat's Eye makeup.

This time, I want my look to be vibrant so I used fuchsia and bright green.
The eye makeup looked 10x more intense in real life. My poor photography skills simply cannot capture the colors accurately.

I am soooooo going to do a Cat's Eye tutorial. I will be away this weekend though. So I will probably have time to post one next weekend!!

Makeup of the Day: Cat's Eye

Today I learnt doing the cat's eye makeup in class, and it was surprisingly fun!!
This makeup look is totally unwearable on a normal day, but really great for parties when you want to look dramatic ^^

As I have THE small eyes, I usually do not like to pile colors on my eye lids, simply because there isn't enough space for them! For the same reason, I have never really attempted the cat's eyes makeup, so it was really super fun drawing the lines. I think I am going to go bolder with the colors the next time I practise this (referring to the blue eyeshadow).

I will NEVER have an occasion to wear this makeup out, so pardon me for the number of photos of the same face in this post!!

Wonder if I should do a tutorial for this look…?

Professional Bridal Makeup for Sasha

Today in makeup class, it was my turn to be the makeup artist and I worked on my class mate Sasha for the Morning Bridal Makeup look.

That's her after the makeover!!

You can see Sasha is pretty satisfied with the makeup, eh?

Before

Picture perfect after makeup - my face (on the left) is hideous in comparison

Bridal magazine cover model - SASHA!! She is so pretty ~

Foundation:
1. On Sasaha, I first used orange (cover dark circles) and green (cover redness) concealer to cover imperfections.
2. Mixed 2 foundation colors to match Sasha's skin tone for a flawless finish.
3. Highlighted the high points of her face and used a darker powder for shading to give her a sharper nose and chin.

Eyes:
1. Used black kajal liner for outer corners to create the deep-set eyes. Used brown, beige and silver for the whole eye look.
2. Gave eyes a sharper look by lining them with black pencil eyeliner. Softened the look by smudging the line and applying black eyeshadow over it.
3. Applied dolly false eyelashes and finished with black liquid liner.

Cheeks:
Used a mixed color of light pink and orange to achieve a coral shade for the cheeks.

Lips:
A shimmery light pink for a youthful look.

RESULT: Sasha is ready for her big day!!…. just that she is not getting married yet… LOL

I am actually happy with my work today… and I feel I am getting a step closer to being a professional bridal makeup artist… what do you think? :)

Makeover for Friends

Recently, I started doing makeover for friends. I have always been quite confident about putting on makeup for myself, but I discover that it is really not easy doing it for another person!! Everyone's eye shapes, skin tone, skin texture are all different; and I really have to use the right techniques and right colors to get the right look. I learnt so much, thanks to my dear friends!

So my ex-colleague has this function to attend in 2 weeks' time. So me being me, crazy over fashion and makeup, offered to help choose her dress, makeup, shoes & accessories etc. It's just fabulous shopping with other people's $$$ (hahaha)!! Guilt free and wallet friendly! I invited this friend of mine over and did a trial makeover for her.

Her dress is an interesting color - golden green with black stripe design. I wanted to create a classy yet sexy look for her, so I suggested to her that she should match the dress with a pair of black sparkly heels and big jewel necklace (since big accessories are IN this year).

She came over to my house and I requested for her to be my makeup model =) To match the green theme, I used Lunasol's Star Shower Eyes 02 on her.

AFTER

BEFORE

I am really quite pleased with the result, as my friend's eyes became really so beautiful and shimmery! The false eyelashes used were natural and opened up her eyes.

My friend was really humorous. When she reached home that night, she told me that she felt sad removing the makeup because it was really a pity that she wasn't going somewhere to have fun with such pretty makeup. I was ecstatic that she liked what I did for her =D

I had so much fun doing it. I feel a great sense of achievement whenever I make others look pretty. Every girl deserves to look and feel her best!

The other day I overheard a few new colleagues saying that they wanted to go for makeover, so I asked them to let me do their makeup for them. This is so exciting! I am really looking forward to next week =)
