L'Oreal Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-wrinkle EYE Cream

Thank you to all my readers, despite me taking an extended break from blogging! I really, really, really have not been buying much makeup, so I am back again with a skincare review :)

Well, let's get down to business…

I practically sprinted down to Guardian to buy this after my beautician commented that my eyelids are showing signs of loosening. I mean, I can totally believe what she said, because I had been having some eyelid sensitivity problem with eyelash glue and eyeliner, thus they kept swelling (every night) and de-swelling (next morning). The skin there is bound to suffer the consequences after all the stretching activities *cringe*

So she told me I should start using firming eye cream, and off I went to get this:

I think the usual price of this is $40+, but I got this at a discount at Guardian at $34.90.
15ml each

I consider this expensive for drug-store skincare, retailing at $40+ for an eyecream. Thus, I expected results from it. However, understanding that I have seldom used an eyecream that really does much to dark circles, wrinkles etc, I have adjusted my expectations of eyecreams quite a bit.

To me, an eyecream must:
1. Moisturise
2. Absorb quickly and NOT feel greasy if i accidentally rubbed my eyes an hour later
3. Not cause eyeshadow to crease and eyeliner to smudge

This eyecream totally pass my requirements.

One jar should last for about 3 months

When I started using this about 1.5 months ago, I was still having my 'eyelids swelling and de-swelling' problem. It stung like hell when I applied this cream over my sensitive eyelids. I really must applaud my courage to continue using it despite the uncomfortable sensation. After 2 weeks, my sensitive lids condition improved, and now my eyes no longer swelled as much as a month ago. I attribute the change to 50% this cream, and 50% to the change of eyelash glue (I switched from some Taiwanese brand to DUO, which was less sticky but more gentle).

The cream does a good job in moisturising my eye area, as the fine lines go under control each night after application. I can see my eyes lifted, looking more awake after I used this. Of course, I didn't expect the effect to last the whole day, but I feel good every time I applied it, especially at night (after a tiring day, and I can see horrible lines when I smile). I use it twice a day, day and night.

The texture of the cream is not creamy, but reminds me of the mousse of mousse cakes LOL!! The cream feels kind of 'hard' like The Body Shop's body butters, but much much less creamy. It kind of has the texture of Hazeline Snow, that is, if Hazeline Snow is still like how it used to be 20 years ago (I used it as a kid when I was still in Hong Kong). I use about a pea size of product each time (quite a lot in my opinion), and after a little bit of massaging and tapping, the cream is absorbed. I like eyecreams that do not feel greasy, yet moisturising enough.

The only downside of this product for me is the packaging. It is really inconvenient and quite unhygienic to be digging my finger into the pot to scoop out the product everytime. A pump would be nice -_-

Overall rating: 4/5 (-1 for the packaging)

I will be trying Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel next!

Love, Bonito Luncheon 2011 at Shuffle Bar

Though I can't say I was proud (more of horrified at my own spending ability), I was nonetheless pleased to be invited to the Love, Bonito Appreciation Luncheon on 10 December 2011at Shuffle Bar, for being one of their top 50 spenders for 2011 ^^;

I realise that I really bought a lot from their blogshop at the beginning of this year, but since I have really stopped buying as much from them now, I decided that I should throughly enjoy the lunch, given that I would definitely not be invited again next year. LOL

I have posted about their clothing before here.

Picture with the 3 owners of Love Bonito: Rachel, Velda and Viola

I invited my friend, Denise, to come to the event with me (I am on the right)

As the VIPs of the day, we got to buy the latest pieces from their Christmas collection before they were released on sale for their blogshop. Of course, now, 2 weeks later, all the pieces have been released for sale already!

I love the Cassidy Corset (right). I got it in cream when the piece was released on blogshop. It was $30. Very good price for a corset!

We got name tags (hohoho) placed on the table. And a special menu for the day

Order form for the clothing

All 3 of them are so skinny! No wonder the sizes for their clothing are all so mini -_-

At the same time lunch was served, the highlight of the day, a mini catwalk show started! The models all walked so fast that I couldn't really get a clear photo of any of them.

This is model Zianna, who started modeling for Love Bonito not too long ago. She is very pretty and very slim!

This is model Constance. I don't really see her modeling for the blogshop anymore recently. She is MAJOR SKINNY.  She looked like a UK4 with a 22" waistline ^^;

All the 8 models for the day on the stage

I got 2 dresses on that day. Both of them super gorgeous, the COVET J'ourdain Maxi and COVET Safforie Dress. The former is simply stunning, while the latter is very suitable for Christmas, as the dress is all shimmery. Both of them are sold out already, but Love, Bonito is taking backorders for the two dresses till Monday 26 December 2011!

COVET J'ordain Maxi, $48

COVET Safforie Dress, $42

Both of the photos above are taken from the original Love, Bonito website.

Etude House Welcome to Wonder Lip Land Lip Palette

I seldom buy lip palettes, because I have always felt that it's kinda unhygienic… but the Etude House Welcome to Wonder Lip Land palette is too awesome to miss!!

It retails for only $39 in Singapore, and has 18 colors. Even if the price is more expensive in Singapore as compared to Korea, I find it a good price still!

Paper packaging is kind of nice

The great thing about this palette is that the color you see in the palette is more or less the color you get when applied to lips. The pigment is good and colors are vibrant. The 12 shades on the left side of palette (smaller rectangles) are lipstick texture, colors more intense, quite matte, and less moisturising. The rest of the 6 shades (right side of palette, squares) feel more like lipgloss, 2 of which are shimmer lipgloss and more to sheer.

This palette is already sold out in most outlets in Singapore. According to a friend who asked the SA in the shop, she said that this is not a limited edition in Korea, but they always bring in this product to Singapore during the Christmas season. The palette is very popular, for the obvious reason :) Good quality and rather reasonable price!

If you are lucky, you might still be able to find one in the stores :)

NARUKO Narcissus Defense BB Sunscreen SPF50

First of all, many apologies to those who have been waiting for updates…
I promised a makeup tutorial… but I simply have no time to do it! Coming January, I would be rather free. I hope I will have time to do it then… sigh…

Anyway, recently I started using NARUKO's Narcissus Defense BB Sunscreen. I first noticed this brand after watching 女人我最大,a Taiwanese beauty variety show. NARUKO believes in delivering quality products at affordable prices. That explains why their packaging is rather simple, because the quality of their products lie within the bottle, not pretty packaging! LOL

I got the BB Sunscreen from Watson's. I think I got it at $25.90, which I think is quite reasonable!

SPF50, 30ml

The texture of the sunscreen is very light, totally not oily like a lot of other sunscreens with SPF50.
I can't really tell how effective it is in blocking UV rays, but it definitely does not break me out, or make my skin oily. Since it is SPF50, I feel safe going out even when there's lots of sunlight.

There aren't much difference to the appearance of my skin before and after application in the photos below, but in real life my skin does look a little fairer and smoother after application.

Before

After
I really like this sunscreen, not because it works wonders for my skin. In fact, I don't think my skin has improved after using it for 3 weeks, but I do like its light texture and affordable price tag! I will repurchase :)

Chinese Opera Makeup

Okie… this will probably be of no interest to those who don't know me personally.
This is what I did to myself today during makeup class. LOL!

Just for fun!!

Will be back with a Naruko review and Cat's eye tutorial soon!

Makeup of the Day: Cat's Eye Part 2

This is Part 2 of my Cat's Eye makeup post

I seriously want to improve my eyeliner skills, hence I am going to keep practising the Cat's Eye makeup.

This time, I want my look to be vibrant so I used fuchsia and bright green.
The eye makeup looked 10x more intense in real life. My poor photography skills simply cannot capture the colors accurately.

I am soooooo going to do a Cat's Eye tutorial. I will be away this weekend though. So I will probably have time to post one next weekend!!

Makeup of the Day: Cat's Eye

Today I learnt doing the cat's eye makeup in class, and it was surprisingly fun!!
This makeup look is totally unwearable on a normal day, but really great for parties when you want to look dramatic ^^

As I have THE small eyes, I usually do not like to pile colors on my eye lids, simply because there isn't enough space for them! For the same reason, I have never really attempted the cat's eyes makeup, so it was really super fun drawing the lines. I think I am going to go bolder with the colors the next time I practise this (referring to the blue eyeshadow).

I will NEVER have an occasion to wear this makeup out, so pardon me for the number of photos of the same face in this post!!

Wonder if I should do a tutorial for this look…?
